Apple Brings iCloud Passwords to Google Chrome
Apple has released an iCloud Passwords extension that lets you use your Safari-based passwords in Google Chrome for Windows.
“iCloud Passwords is a Chrome extension for Windows users that allows you to use the same strong Safari passwords you create on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac when visiting websites in Chrome on your Windows PC,” Apple explains on the extension’s page in the Chrome Web Store. “iCloud Passwords also saves any new passwords you create in Chrome to your iCloud Keychain so that it is also available on your Apple devices.”
I assume that this extension work in Chrome for Mac, too, but the way Apple positions this is interesting: The firm knows that many iPhone and iPad users use Windows PCs and not Macs, and thus they don’t have access to Safari on Windows. That said, I suspect many (if not most) Mac users also use Chrome.
I further assume that this extension will work with Microsoft Edge on either platform too, and with any other Chromium-based web browser.
