Tips and picks
Tip of the week: Use your Xbox Wireless Controller with two devices
Bonus tip: GPM is heading to a farm where it will chase rabbits. Do this first.
Learning pick of the week: Learn iOS development from Stanford
Long the standard in iOS dev classes, the Stanford CS193 class, Developing Apps for iOS, hasn’t been as accessible in recent years. But the Spring 2020 class (iOS 12/SwiftUI) is available for free on the web.
Dev pick of the week: Updated WinUI roadmap on GitHub
There’s a new, much more detailed WinUI 3.0 roadmap on GitHub. It’s worth taking a look if you care about Project Reunion. Reunion .8 is on there for May (Build?).
Codename pick of the week: SurfaceFleet
This codename seemingly has little and maybe nothing to do with Surface. SurfaceFleet is a Microsoft Research project, described as “a system to decouple computing from individual devices and places.” I was spurred by one of the Viva launch videos to look more into this. The Fleet System includes a dev toolkit, user experience for unbinding contrlols from apps and unbinding sharing of content and tools from people and devices.
Valentine’s Day cocktail: Sparkling Sangria

- 1/3 cup cranberry juice
- 1/3 cup pear vodka
- Combine all ingredients in a pitcher or decanter, serve straight up in chilled champagne glasses or over ice in wine glasses.
