Lenovo is introducing an interesting new category of products today. The company is launching what is calling the new Smart Tabs, a full-powered Android tablet that you can use as a Smart Display.

The device, powered by Amazon Alexa and Android Oreo, is essentially a 2-in-1 that can be used as a regular Android Oreo tablet, or as a Smart Display. The device comes with a Smart Dock, and when it’s docked, you will get the Amazon Alexa Show Mode which enables a full screen Alexa experience. You can use Alexa to stream music, videos, check weather, set timers, reminders, and anything else you can usually do with Alexa. When the device is docked, it essentially turns into an Amazon Echo Show.

Lenovo is launching two different variants of the Lenovo Smart Tab — the M10 and the P10. Both the variants come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, Dolby Atmos speakers, and 3 far-field microphones for voice recognition.

On the M10, you can get up to 3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of storage. It only has 2 front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5MP rear camera. The device has a 4850mAh battery and comes in Slate Black with a soft-touch finish. The P10, on the other hand, comes with four front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a 5MP front camera, an 8MP rear camera, and a 7000mAh battery. It comes in Aurora Black with a dual-glass finish.

The idea of the Smart Tab is actually pretty smart, considering the devices are pretty cheap — the M10 costs $199, while the P10 costs $299. That’s around the same as some premium Smart Displays, so being able to get the same Smart Display experience but also having an Android tablet on the same product is kind of clever. Of course, the performance of the Android tablet won’t be superior because of the low-end internals and processors, but that’s beside the point.

Both the new Lenovo Smart Tab M10 and P10 will be available this month.
