Microsoft Pauses Most Edge Development for Two Weeks
To (re)align with the Chromium release schedule, Microsoft says it will pause Dev, Beta, or Stable releases for two weeks.
“To stay aligned with the Chromium Project’s release schedule, we do not have any planned Dev, Beta, or Stable releases for the next two weeks,” the firm revealed in a Tech Community post. “However, Canary will continue to receive updates every weekday. Starting the week of July 13th, we’ll resume our typical release cadence, with updates coming to Dev weekly and Beta every 6 weeks.”
This is the second time Microsoft has had to pause the development of pre-release Edge versions. In March, it paused updates to the Stable channel just days after releasing a new roadmap. That pause was also triggered by the Chromium release schedule, which Google had paused because of COVID-19.
