Specs and images of the Oppo Reno 2 are found in China
The Oppo Reno launched earlier this year with a quirky pop-up “wedge” platform containing the selfie camera. Not only does it take less than a second to fully open, but it also senses when the phone is falling and retracts in time to protect the mechanism and the camera. Sound familiar? The OnePlus 7 Pro‘s pop-up selfie snapper might have a different design, but it too will retract when the handset is forced to obey the law of gravity; this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise since Oppo and OnePlus share the same corporate parent.
The Oppo Reno (as opposed to the premium Reno 10x Zoom model) is a mid-range handset stuffed with a Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform. The phone is equipped with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display sporting a resolution of 1080 x 2340 (an aspect ratio of 19.5:9). The device comes with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. A dual camera setup is on the back (48MP primary + 5MP depth sensor). The “wedge” houses a 16MP selfie snapper, and a 3765mAh capacity battery is included. The Reno comes with Android 9 Pie pre-installed.
The Reno 2 will feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2400 resolution and an aspect ratio of 20:9. While the name of the chip powering the device isn’t known, it appears to be the Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform. A quad-camera setup is on back (48MP + 13MP + 8MP + 2MP depth sensor). Memory configurations start at 8GB with 128GB/256GB of storage available. A 3915mAh capacity battery is onboard and the color options will be Black, Pink and Green. Dimensions are 160mm×74.3mm×9.5mm and the Reno 2 will weigh in at 189g.
There is no word yet on when the Oppo Reno 2 will be unveiled.
