The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition was just teased on Twitter
The OnePlus 7T was the main focus just a couple of weeks ago but this Thursday OnePlus is holding a big press event in London that’ll focus on the entire OnePlus 7T series which should include the yet-to-be-announced OnePlus 7T Pro and a special McLaren Edition model that’s now being teased on social media.
The black and orange color combination may return
Posted by OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau on Twitter, a new image provides an early glimpse at the retail box that’ll begin shipping later this month with the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition inside. The box itself features a carbon-like coating paired with an orange accent around the edges much like the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition that arrived late last year. However, the OnePlus 7T Pro version isn’t expected to follow suit. Instead, it’ll pair the orange accent with a slightly different pattern on the back which was recently teased by tipster Max J.
Adorning the rear panel will be a new laser autofocus system paired with a triple-camera setup. The latter’s expected to remain unchanged and should, therefore, consist of a main 48-megapixel f/1.6 sensor coupled with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter which supports 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera capable of enabling 117-degree field-of-view.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+, Android 10, 256GB of storage
Powering the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition will undoubtedly be Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 855+ coupled with 12GB of RAM. This setup will probably be paired with 256GB of storage as standard but a separate version with 512GB may also be available at launch.
Google has already confirmed the OnePlus 7T will be the first smartphone to ship with Android 10 straight out of the box. It, therefore, makes sense for the McLaren Edition Pro-branded model to follow suit by shipping with Android 10 and the latest version of Oxygen OS pre-installed.
Accompanying everything mentioned above will most likely be a 4,085mAh battery paired with some sort of fast charging. The recently debuted Warp Charge 30T seems like the obvious choice but perhaps OnePlus has an even more powerful technology up its sleeves for the McLaren model. After all, it debuted the original Warp Charge 30 on last year’s OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.
Lastly, as the smartphone’s name indicates, the McLaren Edition model will support 5G networks as standard and ultimately succeed the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G that debuted earlier this year.
The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition should launch on Verizon
The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition will be officially introduced on October 10 alongside the standard OnePlus 7T Pro. Unlike its 4G LTE-ready sibling, this particular model should be available to purchase in the US at launch with recent rumors suggesting it’ll arrive as a Verizon exclusive.
The regular OnePlus 7 Pro 5G retails at $840 via Sprint and is unlikely to receive any sort of price cut in the near future. Considering this and the fact last year’s McLaren model retailed at a $70 premium over the regular model, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Verizon and OnePlus price the phone at $899 which would still undercut most 2019 flagships, especially competing 5G models.
