Mojang is bringing Minecraft to Windows Mixed Reality today. The game is already available on the Oculus Rift and Gear VR headsets, and support for Windows Mixed Reality means it now works on a bunch of other virtual reality headsets as well. Windows 10 users with the latest Minecraft update from the Microsoft Store can get the game on their headset right away without needing to do anything else. You can move around your Minecraft world on Windows Mixed Reality, and you can use your headset’s Motion Controllers in order to interact with things in the Minecraft world.

“We’ve already dabbled in VR with our support for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR. Now, Windows Mixed Reality brings you even more options to 3D-ify your crafty fun, and requires next to no set-up. Just plug the headset into the USB slot and you’re good to go,” Mojang stated in a blog post. Microsoft also recently started testing SteamVR support on Windows Mixed Reality, so there are already a lot of VR experiences available for Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

Along with Windows Mixed Reality support, Mojang is also bringing integration for Microsoft’s interactive broadcasting platform Mixer to Minecraft. The broadcasting platform is already integrated into Windows 10, and the mobile apps on Android and iOS can be used to broadcast any games as well. But with the direct integration on Minecraft, players can broadcast their gameplay on Mixer without needing to install the Mixer app separately. The existence of the Mixer on Windows 10, Android, and iOS makes the integration for Minecraft slightly redundant, as you could just use the Mixer app to broadcast your gameplay on Mixer.

Mixer and Windows Mixed Reality support for Minecraft are available with version 1.2.5, which should be available on your devices sometime soon.
