Amazon celebrates Alexa's birthday with deals on Echo devices, tablets, and more

While it certainly feels longer, Alexa has only been around for five years. Exactly five years, mind you, as Amazon launched its first-ever Echo device on November 6, 2014 exclusively for Prime members. Roughly seven months later, the OG voice-controlled smart speaker rolled out to the masses, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Although the “regular” editions are not included in this special sale in brand-new condition, you can buy a certified refurbished Fire HD 10 at a decent $20 discount as well. Obviously, we’re not talking about last month’s refresh but rather the 2017 generation packing a respectable quad-core processor and sporting a reasonably sharp 10.1-inch display with Full HD resolution. The refurb is backed by the same 1-year limited warranty as a completely new, unused, and unopened unit, which makes this a pretty compelling deal for cash-strapped tablet buyers ahead of the holidays.
Alternatively, you can pick up the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 at $20 off its list price in brand-new condition with built-in Alexa assistance and a Snapdragon 429 SoC. Meanwhile, the recently released Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch is available at its full retail price alongside a complimentary TP Link Smart Wi-Fi Plug that normally costs $20 or so by itself.
That brings us to the hugely popular Echo family, which is actually (and unsurprisingly) the true star of this early Black Friday deal show. Speaking of Shows, Amazon’s smallest and largest smart displays are currently on sale at a discount of $30 and $50 respectively, with the diminutive third-generation Echo Dot and second-gen Echo Dot Kids Edition each going for 20 bucks less than usual.
Last but certainly not least, the second-gen Echo Plus smart speaker with a built-in Zigbee hub and Philips Hue Bulb included is on sale at a substantial $60 markdown, equating to no less than 33 percent off the normal price of this top-notch Alexa smart home starter kit.
