CorelDRAW Graphics Suite Adds M1, iPad, and Teams Support
Today, Corel announced the immediate availability of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021, which adds native M1 support and many new collaboration features.
“Last year, we added new collaboration features to the product,” Corel’s John Falsetto told me in a recent briefing, noting that the firm obviously didn’t anticipate how important that would be in the subsequent pandemic year. “We’re doubling down on that this year.”
What that means is that the Microsoft Office-like collaboration features that Corel added to CorelDRAW and the other products in the suite last year are being enhanced this year with real-time comments and annotations, a new dashboard for designers who need to share cloud-based files, and new versions of CorelDRAW.app, which was originally just a web app, that run natively on the iPad and inside of Microsoft Teams.
The iPad and Teams versions of CorelDRAW.app sport a nice touch-based UI, but you can also revert to the more feature- and control-dense desktop version inside of Teams, which is more useful for those on traditional PCs.
And in addition to natively supporting the M1 chipset on the Mac—it’s not a Universal app for size reasons, instead, the installer will select the right version of the app based on the system architecture—CorelDRAW is now fully 64-bit on Windows. There’s no more 32-bit version of the product.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021 is available for Windows and Mac in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Japanese, and, new this year, Swedish. Pricing is unchanged: Perpetual licenses are is $499 USD, while the annual subscription version is $249 USD. New since last year, too, are CorelDraw Essentials 2021 ($129) for individuals and CorelDRAW Standard 2021 ($299) for home-based and small businesses.
As before, the CorelDRAW.app collaboration features require a CorelDRAW Graphics Suite subscription, a maintenance license, or an additional CorelDRAW.app Pro subscription for perpetual license customers.
